The following information on God's healing power has been prepared by our healing minister. May God bless you as you read it.

INTRODUCTION

It is and it always has been God’s will to heal! You are God’s most precious creation and he gave His Son for you. He carefully watches over you and holds you in His loving arms. Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you! See, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands...(Isaiah 49:15-16).

God desires that you have the best of everything. You are supposed to live your life to the fullest. Jesus said: ...I have come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly. (John 10:10 KJV)

One component of this abundant life Jesus died to give you is freedom from sickness. How can you experience God’s best if you have sickness in your body? Sickness will rob you of your joy, peace, happiness, rest and money. If you are a slave to sickness and disease, reclaim your freedom and break the chains that hold you captive.

The only way to free yourselves from the shackles of sickness and disease is to know what the Bible clearly teaches about healing. I believe the scriptures clearly show that healing is for all people and God is always willing to heal.

REDEMPTION INCLUDES HEALING

Spiritual and physical deliverance from sin and sickness is included in your redemption. Through the shed blood of Christ for the remission of sins and the stripes Jesus bore on His back, we received freedom for our spirit, soul and body. Jesus is our redeemer and healer.

What is the meaning of redemption?

The Hebrew word for redeemer is ga’al. Ga’al means to redeem, deliver, act as a kinsman. This word is usually associated with persons or property sold for a debt and it was the responsibility of a nearest relative, usually an uncle, brother or some other blood relative from the individuals family to make redemption for the persons or property.

Jesus fulfills the role of redeemer

In bringing many sons to glory, it was fitting that God, for whom and through whom everything exist, should make the author of their salvation perfect through suffering. Both the one who makes men holy and those who are made holy are of the same family. So Jesus is not ashamed to call them brothers. He says, I will declare your name to my brothers; in the presence of the congregation I will sing your praises. And again, I will put my trust in him. And again he says here I am, and the children God has given me. Since the children have flesh and blood, he too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death — that is, the devil — and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. For surely it is not angels he helps, but Abraham’s descendants. For this reason he had to be made like his brothers in every way, in order that he might become a merciful and faithful high priest in service to God, and that he make atonement for the sins of the people.

Hebrews 2:10-17

Through the fall of Adam we inherited sin and sickness, through the death of Christ we inherited salvation of our soul and body. We are the children of God and Jesus bought us back from slavery to Satan. The shedding of the blood of Jesus was the price required for the remission of sins. ( 1 John 1:17.) and Jesus endured those lashes on His back to redeem us from sickness and disease. (Isaiah 53:4-5.)

Jesus healed all

The Gospels are peppered with extraordinary miracles of healing performed by Jesus. People would pursue Jesus from town to town because of His ability to heal. The presence of miracles in the ministry of Jesus opened the door for the Gospel to be taught and heard.

Jesus was a walking billboard and the miracles He performed was His advertising. Jesus achieved the impossible and extraordinary and the multitudes were amazed. Wherever Jesus performed healings, the people followed. Jesus never turned anyone away, He healed anyone in need of healing and met every need.

Great crowds came to him, bringing the lame, the blind, the crippled, the mute and many others, and laid them at his feet; and he healed them. The people were amazed when they saw the mute speaking, the crippled made well, the lame walking and the blind seeing. And they praised the God of Israel.

Matthew 15:30-31

And when the men of that place recognized Jesus, they sent word to all the surrounding country. People brought all their sick to him and begged him to let the sick just touch the edge of his cloak, and all who touched him were healed.

Matthew 14:35-36

News about him spread all over Syria, and people brought to him all who were ill with various diseases, those suffering severe pain, the demon-possessed, those having seizures, and the paralyzed, and he healed them.

Matthew 4:24

Jesus bore your sickness

Jesus is your sin-bearer and your sickness-bearer. He healed people while He was walking on this earth 2000 years ago and He still heals people today. Jesus gave His life for everyone, past and present, what He did for them 2000 years ago, He will do for you today. Jesus is the fulfillment of the prophecy in Isaiah 53:4-5.

As it says in Matthew 8:16-17: When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases.

When Jesus died on the cross, He took our sins and sicknesses upon Himself. As our substitute, Jesus bore upon Himself what was rightfully ours. Through the fall of Adam, it was our place to pay the penalty for sin and sickness. But, by the grace of God, Jesus took our place, became our substitute and carried away all our sins, sicknesses and diseases. Those sins and sicknesses died to us when they died with Jesus on the cross.

The unchanging Jesus

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

Hebrews 13:8

Jesus is the timeless one, eternal and unchanging in which there is no deviation. Notice what God the Father says about His Son Jesus.

In the beginning, O Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. You will roll them like a robe; like a garment they will be changed. But you remain the same, and your years will never end.

Hebrews 1:10-12

It is through the name of Jesus that people were healed back in New Testament times and it is through His name that people are healed today. Jesus said in Mark 16:17-18: In My name...they will place their hands on the sick, and they will recover.

Peter attested to the fact that Jesus was responsible for the healing that took place in Acts 4:9-10: If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a cripple and are asked how he was healed, then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.

We have the same authority to use Jesus name to heal the sick as the Apostles did. The healings that took place then take place now. Jesus is still responsible for the healings. The main difference between the Apostles and Christians today is the fact that the Apostles knew who they were in Christ, they knew the power and authority contained in the name of Jesus and they exercised that authority with conviction.

Most Christians today could not command a fly to get off a elephant’s back. Why? Because they are not aware of the rights given to them by Jesus. They simply cannot comprehend the power contained in Jesus’ name.

SATAN — RESPONSIBLE FOR SICKNESS AND DISEASE

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy ...

John 10:10

... He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him, When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

John 8:44

Some people are under the assumption that Satan and his demons are symbolic. One would have to deny scripture to follow that line of thought. The Bible clearly teaches that Satan and his demons are real entities. According to Ezekiel 28:13-19, Isaiah 14:12-20, Revelation 12:9-10, Revelation 20:2-3 and Zechariah 3:1-2, Satan is real. You cannot rebuke something that is symbolic, likewise, something symbolic cannot accuse anyone of anything, for Satan is called the accuser of the brethren.

Satan mimics God

... Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light.

2 Corinthians 11:14

Satan is a fallen angel, for Ezekiel 28:14 tells you he was an anointed cherub. Satan will always try to pass himself off as something he is not. Satan is evil and he brings darkness and destruction to the human race.

Satan deceives people by falsely imitating the miracles of God. Let me explain, only Jesus can heal, Satan cannot, because he can’t give away something he does not have. Sickness and disease enters the human condition through sin. Because of the fall of Adam, everyone has inherited a sin nature. When you sin, you enter Satan’s domain and he can attack you in different ways. Sin opens the door for Satan to attack you and one of his favorite ways to afflict you is sickness.

Jesus takes away sickness, Satan puts it on you. If I had my hands around someone’s neck choking them to the point that they couldn’t breath, how can my hands be removed? Either I voluntarily remove my hands from their neck or someone bigger and stronger than I forces me to let go. If Satan puts a sickness on you, isn’t it logical that he could take it off of you? This is how Satan imitates healings. Religions that use chants, spells or sorcery to heal are not of God, likewise, psychic healers do not get their healing ability from God. Jesus is the only healer and he heals for free. He doesn’t charge a set price to heal you. He doesn’t turn on a meter to time your prayers then charge you $3.99 a minute for listening.

Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord ...

Deuteronomy 18:10-12

Satan brings sickness

So Satan went out from the presence of the Lord and afflicted Job with painful sores from the soles of his feet to the top of his head.

Job 2:7

And there was a woman who for eighteen years had a sickness caused by a spirit; and she was bent double, and could not straighten up at all. When Jesus saw her, He called her over and said to her, Woman, you are freed from your sickness.

Luke 13:11-12 NASB

And this woman, a daughter of Abraham as she is, whom Satan has bound for eighteen long years, should she not have been released from this bond on the Sabbath day?

Luke 13:16 NASB

You know of Jesus of Nazareth, how God anointed Him with the Holy Spirit and with power, and how He went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him.

Acts 10:38 NASB

Here you have the trinity, The Father, (Job 2:7) the Son, (Luke 13:11-12;16) and the Holy Spirit (Acts 10:38) declaring Satan as the one responsible for sickness.

FAULTY DOCTRINE AND THEOLOGY

You’re going to find that there will be times when people will have no stomach for solid teaching, but will fill up on spiritual junk food ...

2 Timothy 4:3 The Message Bible

The teaching of false doctrine concerning the Biblical principles of healing is responsible for keeping many in the body of Christ sick and needlessly suffering. What good parent would discipline their children by withholding medication or medical attention from a child they knew was sick and suffering. Sadly, that is exactly what many Christians accuse God of doing.

What Jesus bore — we need not bear

Surely he took up our infirmities and carried our sorrows, yet we considered him stricken by God, smitten by him, and afflicted. But he was pierced for our transgressions, he was crushed for our iniquities; the punishment that brought us peace was upon him, and by his wounds we are healed.

Isaiah 53:4-5

He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness for by his wounds you were healed.

1 Peter 2:24

When evening came, many who were demon-possessed were brought to him, and he drove out the spirits with a word and healed all the sick. This was to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet Isaiah: He took up our infirmities and carried our diseases.

Matthew 8:16-17

Tell me something! Did Jesus bear those stripes on His back for nothing? If it was God’s will to use sickness to chastise His children, why did He lay our sicknesses upon Jesus? Matthew 8:17 says Jesus carried our diseases. The Greek word translated as “carried” bastazo means to suffer or bear on the behalf of others. This means that Jesus bore all our sickness and diseases for us so we would not have to bear them ourselves. Therefore, God would not use sickness to humble His children when He already laid our sicknesses and diseases on Christ. God’s words are truth and God is not a man, that he should lie (Numbers 23:19).

... resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. But the God of all grace, who hath called us into his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

1 Peter 5:9-10 KJV

The Greek word for afflictions is pathema and is used for undergoing hardship or emotional pain.

The Greek word for suffered is pascho and it simply means to suffer.

The kind of afflictions Peter said we would suffer are troubles, hardships, temptations, persecutions and trails. After all, Jesus does say: In this world you will have trouble ... (John 16:33). Also Jesus says: ... If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also (John 15:20).

Jesus bore away our sins and sicknesses, He did not bear our trails and hardships. He gives us grace to endure our hardships.

Thorn in the flesh

To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. Three times I pleaded with the Lord to take it away from me. But he said to me, my grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships, in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then I am strong.

2 Corinthians 12:7-10

Many preachers and teachers use this verse to claim Paul was sick. Paul’s thorn in the flesh was not sickness! The thorn in the flesh, the messenger of Satan, sent to torment him were Judiazers. Everywhere Paul went he was harassed and persecuted by Judiazers. The Judiazers were the messenger of Satan, sickness cannot be a messenger. A messenger is a person or a group of people.

Paul said in verse 10 that he delighted in weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions and difficulties. In the chapter before 2 Corinthians 12, Paul describes his hardships.

... I have worked much harder, been in prison more frequently, been flogged more severely, and been exposed to death again and again. Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea, I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my own countrymen, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false brothers. I have labored and toiled and have often gone without sleep; I have known hunger and thirst and have often gone without food; I have been cold and naked.

2 Corinthians 11:23-27

Did you notice that Paul does not mention sickness as one of his hardships?

Paul's eyes

Ye know how through infirmity of the flesh I preached the gospel unto you at the first. And my temptation which was in my flesh ye despised not, nor rejected; but received me as an angel of God, even as Christ Jesus. Where is then the blessedness ye spake of? For I bear you record, that, if it had been possible, ye would have plucked out our own eyes, and have given them to me.

Galatians 4:13-15 KJV

Many translations of the Bible translate infirmity of the flesh as illness. The Greek word for infirmity is astheneia which means lacking strength, weakness, infirmity. Some translations have “temptation which was in my flesh” translated as illness also. The Greek word for temptation is peiramos and this word is never used as a reference to sickness or illness.

If I said to someone, “Go break a leg” or “Don’t make me twist your arm” I certainly would not mean it in a literal sense. In the same way, Paul is using a figure of speech when he remarks that the Galatians would have given him their own eyes if they could. Besides, if Paul was indeed sick it is highly doubtful that it was related to his eyesight.

If you remember correctly, after Paul was blinded by the brilliant light of Jesus, Ananias was instructed to lay his hands on Paul in order to restore Paul’s sight. In Acts 9:18 Paul is healed of his blindness.

Paul said in 2 Corinthians 12:9 that he would gladly boast about his weaknesses, in 2 Corinthians 11:23-27 Paul tells you about his weaknesses, insults, hardships, persecutions and difficulties. There is no evidence in the scriptures that support Paul being sick.

GOD'S PROMISES

God’s will is summed up for you in seven redemptive names. Jesus fulfills all these names. Jesus fulfills God’s plan for your salvation. These names signify what God will do for you now, not in the future.

Jehovah–jireh: The Lord will provide
My God will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:19

Jehovah–nissi: The Lord our banner
And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

Colossians 2:15

Jehovah–raah: The Lord is my shepherd
I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays his life down for the sheep.

John 10:11

Jehovah–rapha: The Lord who heals you
He himself bore our sins in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sin and live to righteousness; for by his wounds you were healed.

1 Peter 2:24

The Lord identified Himself as our healer in Exodus 15:26. The covenant of healing was the first covenant God gave to the Israelites.

Jehovah–shalom: The Lord our peace
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.

John 14:27

Jehovah–shamma: The Lord is present
I am with you always, even to the end of the age.

Matthew 28:20

Jehovah–tsidkenu: The Lord our righteousness
He made him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf, so that we might become the righteousness of God in him.

2 Corinthians 5:21

This is what God has promised you; it is already yours. Jesus is always there, He is your peace, He is your shepherd, He is your provider, He is your victor, He is your righteousness and He is your healer. All this is part of your redemption and you don’t have to wait, it belongs to you now. Therefore, if you have sickness in your body, don’t pray asking God to heal you if it be His will. You already know His will regarding healing, just simply thank Him you are healed.

FAITH NEEDS BELIEF

... Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.

James 2:17

Faith if not accompanied by belief is dead. Belief is the accelerate that activates faith. You can press on the gas pedal of your car time and time again, but if there is no gasoline in the car, you will go nowhere. It is the same way with faith. You can say I believe God’s word, but if you don’t act upon God’s word, then you nullify the word by your lack of action.

Read, listen, speak then act

But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his natural face in a mirror; for once he has looked at himself and gone away, he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. But the one who looks intently at the perfect law, the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but an effectual doer, this man will be blessed in what he does.

James 1:22-25 NASB

What good does it do to read the Bible from cover to cover once a year if you don’t practice what it says? What good is it if you memorize certain chapters or books of the Bible if it never sinks into your mind so you can do what it says. The Bible is a book of guidelines and instructions on how to live your life. If you want what the Bible says you have, you have to do more than just read the words on the pages, you have to follow its instruction to get what the Bible says you have.

Why do you call Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ and do not do what I say? Everyone who comes to Me and hears My words and acts on them, I will show you whom he is like: he is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid a foundation on the rock; and when a flood occurred, the torrent burst against that house and could not shake it, because it had been well built. But the one who has heard and has not acted accordingly, is like a man who built a house on the ground without any foundation; and the torrent burst against it and immediately it collapsed, and the ruin of that house was great.

Luke 6:46-49 NASB

If you want the word of God to work for you, you must act upon it. If you are believing God for healing, you have to take action.

The woman with the issue of blood (Mark 5:25-34) received her healing because she acted on what she believed. This woman, sick and weak, fought her way through the heavy crowd just to touch Jesus’ cloak because she heard Jesus could heal. She didn’t even want to get Jesus’ attention because she knew there was so much power within Him that it just oozed out into His clothing. It is the same way when we put perfume or cologne on our bodies, the smell will transfer into our clothing.

She said to herself, if I just touch Him I will be healed. She could have looked at the obstacles, went home dejected and never received the healing she thought she could have received. But, she had faith and she put it into action. It didn’t matter to her how she felt, she probably did not physically feel like fighting through that crowd, but she mustered up all her strength and pushed her way to Jesus to get that healing she knew she would receive if she could just touch Him. She acted upon what she believed and her faith was rewarded, she was healed.

Remember, belief is the accelerate that activates faith. You have to act upon the word to receive that promise contained in it. Jesus already took those stripes upon His back for your healing. It is a done deal, it is finished, there is nothing left to do because Jesus already took care of it Himself. Healing is already yours, you just have to know what the word says concerning healing, then act upon it.

Take a lesson from the woman with an issue of blood, believe in what Christ has already accomplished for you and put it into action. Keep saying daily, “I thank you Jesus that by your stripes I am healed.” If you are sick, be willing to get out of bed even if you don’t feel like it. If you are paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair and you have been praying to God to heal your body, act upon your faith and try to move. The words in the Bible are not idle words, they are active and alive. A lack of action by you will make them idle words.

Earlier, I stated that one of God’s redemptive names is Jehovah-jireh which means the Lord will provide. This means He has promised to provide for you. Let’s say you were hungry and you prayed to God asking Him to feed you. Let’s also say that He placed a meal on the table directly in front of you for you to eat. If you refuse to pick up a knife and a fork to eat the meal, you are still going to be hungry. God provided the meal, but He is not going to feed it to you, you have to do that yourself. In the same way, God will provide clothes for you to wear, but He is not going to dress you. He expects you to act upon His word.

So many people want the promises of God, but they lack action in order to receive those promises. That is why so many of God’s children never receive what Christ died to give them. Remember, everything that belongs to Jesus, belongs to you. After all, you are a joint-heir of Christ.

In healing, you can’t rely on your experiences, feelings or senses

We walk by faith, not by sight.

2 Corinthians 5:7

From birth, we are taught to rely on our experiences and our senses. We learn from our five senses. If we can see it, feel it, smell it, hear it or taste it, it must be real and true. This may be true when it comes to the things of this physical world. However, it is not true regarding the word of God.

In this world, its seeing is believing. But, as Christians, God expects us to first believe we already have what we are praying for before we ever see it. That is why reliance on your experiences or your senses will leave you unfulfilled. Why? Because your five senses will always contradict God’s word.

To our limited understanding, the word of God defies all logic. It doesn’t make a whole lot of sense to people who have never practiced God’s word, but for those who have experience with God and follow His words, His words make perfect sense. The word of God has been tested, tried and proven. It you follow His teaching and you apply it to your life, you will see all of God promises come to pass in your life.

Therefore, I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe you have received it, and it will be yours.

Mark 11:24

Confess God’s word — not your pain

This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us. And if we know that he hears us – whatever we ask – we know that we have what we asked of him.

1 John 5:14-15

When it comes to healing, many people rely on the physical evidence of their healing instead of the word of God concerning healing. When the slightest ache or pain surfaces, they begin to acknowledge their symptoms instead of speaking what the Bible says concerning their healing. They automatically talk themselves out of their healing because their faith is in their symptoms, not in the validity of God’s word.

Many people have been healed by the power of God, but as soon as a symptom reappears they lose their healing because they talk about their pain. What you believe is what you will get.

So many wrongfully assume that if they feel pain in their body they must not be healed, thereby giving their senses precedence over God’s word. Their senses say, “I feel pain; I am not healed so God’s word must not be true.”

God’s word says by his wounds you are healed (Isaiah 53:5). That should be all the evidence you need to convince you that Jesus took your sicknesses and diseases upon Himself when He took those stripes on His back. When has God ever lied? When has God ever failed to deliver on any of His promises?

Never talk about your aches, pains or symptoms because that is contrary to what the Bible says about healing. You are healed because Jesus went to the cross to bear your sicknesses and diseases. He bore them so you would not have to bear them.

Will you ever feel pain? Yes! Will you feel sick from time to time? Yes! I am not saying you will never have any pain or you will never feel sick. I am saying, when you do experience discomfort, don’t blurt out of your mouth how you feel physically. When you don’t feel well, speak the word of God to your symptoms because God’s word has authority over that pain or sickness. When you confess your symptoms, you give your symptoms authority over you. When you confess the word of God, the word of God pulls rank over your illness and the illness must leave. But, you must believe the word of God is true.

Always, always, always speak the word to every circumstance that presents itself to you. If you are sick, you should continually say, “By the stripes of Jesus I am healed” and never let up until your healing manifest.

Keep speaking the word to your illness and it must go away as long as you believe Jesus bore your sickness on the cross. Faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. (Hebrews 11:1)

WHEN SINS ARE FORGIVEN — THERE IS HEALING FROM SICKNESS

Some men brought to him a paralytic, lying on a mat. When Jesus saw their faith, he said to the paralytic, Take heart, son; you sins are forgiven. At this, some of the teachers of the law said to themselves, this fellow is blaspheming! Knowing their thoughts, Jesus said, why to you entertain evil thoughts in your hearts? Which is easier: to say, your sins are forgiven, or to say, get up and walk? But so that you may know the Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins.... then he said to the paralytic, Get up, take your mat and go home.

Matthew 9:2-6

In the above verses, Jesus heals a paralytic, but I want you to pay attention to the words spoken by Jesus and the teachers of the law.

Notice that Jesus did not say to the paralytic “you are healed.” He said “your sins are forgiven.” He didn’t have to say to the paralytic “you are healed” because the people during that time knew that when God forgave their sins, they were healed also. That is why the teachers of the law never questioned the healing of the paralytic, they questioned Jesus’ authority to forgive sins. The teachers of the law knew that one of the penalties for sin and disobedience was sickness. They know this from Deuteronomy 28:20-22;58-61 which outlines sickness as part of the curse for sin and disobedience.

The Lord will send on you curses, confusion and rebuke in everything you put your hand to, until you are destroyed and come to sudden ruin because of the evil you have done in forsaking him. The Lord will plague you with diseases until he has destroyed you from the land you are entering to possess. The Lord will strike you with wasting disease, with fever and inflammation, with scorching heat and drought, with blight and mildew, which will plague you until you perish.

Deuteronomy 28:20-22

If you do not carefully follow the words of this law, which are written in this book, and do not revere this glorious and awesome name — the Lord your God — the Lord will send fearful plagues on you and your descendants, harsh and prolonged disasters, and severe and lingering illnesses. He will bring upon you all the disasters of Egypt that you dreaded, and they will cling to you. The Lord will also bring on you every kind of sickness and disaster not recorded in this Book of the Law, until you are destroyed.

Deuteronomy 28:58-61

There is something I need to clarify before I go further. God does not bring sickness and disease on His people. In Exodus 15:26, God said: I will not bring on you any of the diseases I brought on the Egyptians, for I am the Lord who heals you. In the original Hebrew text, this verse is rendered, I will not permit any of the diseases I permitted on the Egyptians.

When you are disobedient and sin, you tie the hands of God and therefore He will allow Satan to afflict you. Job is a good example of this. God allowed Satan to afflict Job with painful sores (Job 2:6-7) because Job was fearful and fear is a sin. In Job 1:5 we see he would sacrifice a burnt offering for each of his children just in case they may have sinned. The verse also says Job did this as a regular custom. Job’s actions were a result of fear. Again, when you sin, you tie the hands of God. Sin allows the devil to afflict you in anyway he wishes.

I said earlier, the teachers of the law knew sickness was a consequence of sin. The Jews connected sin with sickness. To prove my point, the Apostles also equated sin with sickness.

As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. His disciples asked him, Rabbi, who sinned, this man or his parents, that he was born blind?

John 9:1-2

Jesus’ disciples studied the law, they knew sin was responsible for sickness. But, I do want to point out that not all sicknesses are a result of sin. Some people are born blind, deaf or crippled. Some people are sick because of fumes or chemicals in the workplace, some have lung problems by breathing in second hand smoke and some have physical problems because they were injured in an accident. The real issue is unrepented sin.

Jesus redeemed us from the curse of the law

So, let’s put together what we know. We know from Deuteronomy 28:20-22;58-61 that sickness is a curse. We know when your sins are forgiven, you are healed also. We know Jesus is the Messiah and He has the authority to forgive sins like He did with the paralytic. We also know that Jesus redeemed us from the curse of the law in Deuteronomy 28. How do we know this?

Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: Cursed is everyone who is hung on a tree.

Galatians 3:13

When Jesus died on the cross, we were redeemed from our sins and sicknesses. He shed His blood for the forgiveness of our sins and He took those stripes on His back for our healing. We get forgiveness of sins and healing together in the same redemption.

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; by his wounds you have been healed.

1 Peter 2:24

Praise the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits — who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases.

Psalm 103:2-3

WORDS

For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Hebrews 4:12

All words are seeds! Every word, whether positive or negative, starts germinating the moment it is spoken. When you keep saying the same thing over and over again, you are actually watering that seed. It is the same way when a farmer plants crops. When the farmer plants the seed, in order to get a crop from the seed, he must continue to water it, pull the weeds, spray for bugs, etc.

The real problem here is not an occasional slip of the tongue. The problem is continuous speech that is negative. Positive words will bring positive results because that is what you are sowing as will negative words bring negative results. Positive words build you up and negative words will tear you down. Never underestimate the power contained in the words you speak. The words you speak have tremendous creative power. Be mindful of everything you say and don’t speak carelessly. For by your words you will be acquitted, and by your words you will be condemned. (Matthew 12:37)

God created man, the earth and everything on it with words. Jesus healed with words and the Israelites were forbidden to enter the promised land because of their words. (Numbers 14:3-4;26-32)

So is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

Isaiah 55:11

He sent forth his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.

Psalm 107:20

What you confess is what you will possess. The only words that bring healing and health are God’s words. If you read the Gospels, you will notice that most of the miracles Jesus performed were by spoken words. In the book of Acts, you will notice that Peter, Phillip and Paul performed healings and drove out demons with words. After all, Jesus did say in John 14:12-14: I tell you the truth, anyone who has faith in me will do what I have been doing. He will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father. And I will do whatever you ask in my name, so that the Son may bring glory to the Father. You may ask me for anything in my name, and I will do it.

You either confess the words of God or you confess what the devil says about God’s word. If you want to possess all the promises of God, you must confess with your mouth what the Bible says you have.

Let me tell you a true story about my Father. My Father used to say “I am going to die of cancer” long before he ever contracted the disease. A few years later he started to experience pain. He went to the doctor, some tests were conducted and the results came back positive for cancer. In a little over a year from the time the cancer was diagnosed, at the age of 61 my Father died of this disease. Proverbs 23:7 says: For as he thinks within himself, so he is...

What words you speak is what you accept. You confess ill health, you will get it. You confess poverty, you will be poor. You confess failure, you will be a failure. If you are having problems in your life, examine what you are saying. If your speech and thoughts are negative, get on your knees, ask God for forgiveness and let God help you kick the habit of your negative speech.

POWER OF PERSISTENT PRAYER AND PRAISE

Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. He said: In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared about men. And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, Grant me justice against my adversary. For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, even though I don’t fear God or care about men, yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually wear me out with her coming! And the Lord said, listen to what the unjust judge says. And will not God bring justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? I tell you, he will see that they get justice and quickly...

Luke 18:1-8

In your daily prayers, thank God that He has healed you from your condition regardless if your symptoms haven’t gone away. Remember we live by faith, not by sight and it is impossible to please God without faith. Believe God’s word and confess by Jesus stripes you are healed and claim your healing in Jesus’ name.

Everything has its time and place. Your healing may be instantaneous or it may be gradual. But, if it doesn’t happen quickly, don’t get discouraged and start saying things like “God’s word isn’t true” or “I am not healed.” It is the same way when you take medicine, you are not instantaneously better once you have taken the first pill, that is why the doctor instructs you to take the whole prescription. The medicine has to get into your system and start working. It is also the same way with God’s word, you have to meditate on God’s word and let it begin to grow faith in you before you see your healing. God’s word is true and binding regardless if your healing is now or later. Besides, sometimes God will test your faith. Keep thanking God in your prayers that His word is true and you are healed. God’s word is true and it never fails because it cannot fail. Always be positive and never, never, never doubt. Remember, healing is a part of our redemption and if God says you are healed, then you are healed.

God’s word is reliable, your doubts are unreliable. Seek God and keep His words in your heart and on your lips at all times because that is where your breakthrough comes and He will never leave you or forsake you.

For the vision is yet for the appointed time; it hastens toward the goal and it will not fail. Though it tarries wait for it; for it will certainly come, it will not delay.

Habakkuk 2:3 NASB

Praise

One thing I ask of the Lord, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple. For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock. Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his tabernacle will I sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the Lord.

Psalm 27:4-6

There is nothing that breaks bondage’s better than praising God. It is amazing what happens when you start singing praises unto the Lord because God inhabits the praises of His people. In 2 Chronicles 20:1-23, Jehoshaphat and his people were facing certain death and annihilation, they turned to God with their prayers. They sang praises unto the Lord and the Lord delivered them from certain destruction. In Acts 16:19-26, after they were thrown into prison, Paul and Silas began singing hymns to God and God set them free. When I have not felt well, I would begin to sing praises to the Lord and I would instantly start feeling better.

You should praise God at all times, but it is extremely important to praise Him in the midst of your circumstances. When you honor God with your praise, you are showing Him that you trust Him and you have complete faith in Him to meet all your needs.

You can accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior by praying this prayer

Heavenly Father, I come to you confessing that I am a sinner. I no longer desire to follow the path of the unrighteous. I confess that Jesus Christ, your Son, died on the cross and shed His blood for the remission of my sins. I confess that because of the shed blood of Jesus, I am now counted as righteous in God’s sight. I confess that Jesus died, was resurrected and ascended to heaven. I accept Jesus Christ as my personal Lord and Savior and I ask that I be filled with the Holy Spirit. I confess that I am a born-again child of the living God and I am saved in Jesus’ name. Amen.
